Graphics issues with RowPro 5 or later for Windows
RowPro 3D graphics issues can be caused by the computer and operating system, the graphics driver, or the RowPro version and settings. To resolve graphics issues, just follow the steps in the sequence A-B-C shown below.
A: Computer and operating system
Ideally you should be running RowPro in Windows 10 or later. Older computers and operating systems are a major source of 3D graphics issues. To resolve these issues:
-
Do not run RowPro in computer hardware that shipped ex factory with Windows Vista or earlier, even if it has since been upgraded to Windows 7 or later. If you have older hardware, please read the Using older computers tab here.
-
Do not run RowPro in low-spec computers, for example running an Atom processor. Please check the minimum computer spec in the Specifications tab here.
-
Once you have RowPro installed in a suitable computer and operating system, start RowPro and check it works correctly. If not, move on to the next steps.
B: Graphics driver
Older graphics drivers are a major source of 3D graphics issues. In some cases, drivers in brand new computers can cause problems as well, especially if they've been shipped early to meet release deadlines. To resolve these issues:
-
If RowPro is running, close it.
-
Check if there is a more recent graphics driver available from your computer manufacturer, and if so, upgrade your graphics driver.
-
If you have updated the graphics driver, start RowPro and check it works correctly. If not, move on to the next steps.
C: RowPro version and settings
It's important to be using the latest version of RowPro and to have it set up correctly. Here are the steps:
-
As a first step, check you have the latest version of RowPro installed. You can see which specific version you have installed in Help | About RowPro - look at the first part of the Build number before the first hyphen. Then go to www.digitalrowing.com/software and check the current version. If you don't have the latest version, please upgrade.
-
Once you have the latest version of RowPro installed, start RowPro. If you can't start RowPro, then when the small 'splash screen' appears just before RowPro opens, tap the 2 button on your keyboard to force RowPro to start in 2D.
-
Once RowPro has started, on the main menu click Tools | Preferences and do the following:
-
Set the Antialiasing slider to None. Note this will make the RowPro 3D graphics appear jagged, but some graphics drivers have issues with Antialiasing, so later you can set this above None again if your computer still runs RowPro OK on the higher settings.
-
If you changed the Antialiasing slider setting, close and restart RowPro and check it works correctly. If not, move on to the next steps.
-
On the RowPro main menu click Tools | Preferences and change the Display mode setting from Direct3D9 to OpenGL, or if it's already on OpenGL, change it to Direct3D9.
-
Close and restart RowPro and check it works correctly. If not, please contact assist@digitalrowing.com. If you can start RowPro, on the main menu click Help | System info and include that info in the email.
