Pace boats can range from simple to complex.
Simple ones can be created locally within RowPro via Set up a Row | Lane 1-4 | Pace boat | New.... These can be either Continuous pace boats that continuously row at a pace and stroke rate you specify, or Splits pace boats that change their pace and/or stroke rate up to four times throughout the row.
Note: Pace boats are only useable with Continuous rows, not with Interval rows.
For more complex pace boats, for example pace boats that change their pace and/or stroke rate more than four times throughout the row, there is an Advanced Pace Boat Studio (APBS).
Note: This is one of the online components of RowPro, so it can only be used if RowPro is online.
The general sequence is:
1.Open the APBS via Set up a Row | Lane 1-4 | Pace boat | New... | Advanced...
2.Use the ACRS to create the advanced pace boat and save it in the Advanced Pace Boat Library.
3.From the list of saved advanced pace boats in the Advanced Pace Boat Library, click Download to download the advanced pace boats you want into RowPro.
4.Once they're downloaded into RowPro, they appear on the list of pace boats in Set up a Row | Lane 1-4 | Pace boat, where you can select them and row with them, including offline if you want.
5.You can re-use downloaded advanced pace boats as many times as you want.
The steps for creating an advanced pace boat in the APBS are at the top of the APBS, and are copied below:
Use this studio to create advanced pace boats with up to 20 splits, each with optional target bands. Each pace boat can be for a time or distance row, but not for a mixed time/distance row.
Specifying a split is simple: First enter a time or distance for that split in the format shown in the Splits panel. Then just keep adding splits until you’re done.
Put a space after the split, then use letters A-L to indicate which target band applies to that split.
For each target band A-L that you used in the Splits panel, you now need to specify that target band in the Targets panel. You can set target bands for Pace or Stroke Rate (SPM). If you do not specify a target then the default will apply.
The correct format for specifying target bands is shown in the Targets panel. If you don’t make an entry in the correct format, the entry will be highlighted in red and you will not be able to save the pace boat.
You can optionally add a brief description or comment after each split or target band, just put a * character in, then any text after the * will be treated as a comment.
Once you’re done, click Save to save it in the Advanced Pace Boat Library, where you can select it to Edit, Download or Delete it.
